As we all know data is a new currency now and it's becoming the key driving force for many organizations today. To stay competitive in this modern fast-paced world, companies are investing big to get the data that is changing at the very moment.

When we talk about data the first thing that comes to our mind is, how to get it? that's where the journey of the ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load). Let's take a look at our legacy on-premises ETL application architecture

In this scenario, the data load happens every night and it takes about 12 hours to complete. which means the data that loads to the OLAP system is not current but a day-old copy. So the data that the end-users get is not accurate.

The management is not happy with the current ETL process and would like to enhance it to load more data from various other sources, and different data formats at frequent intervals in a day so they can get meaningful and precise data to their end-users.

But the challenge with the current on-premises ETL system is that it’s not flexible, can’t handle the growing data, new data formats are difficult to handle, ETL packages take longer times to run due to the server CPU, network, and disk performance, and the available compute cluster capacity.

So the data team came up with a few options,
